About Me

About VanDaalEnzo

Four years ago
Work-a-holic that was THE word to describe me.
‘My dear friend you can’t keep living like this’, says my Greek friend with a strong voice. I do not get him. He is exaggerating, I took 5(!) whole days off for this trip to Athens. I’m young and responsible for all the marketing and communication of the company. What else is there to wish for? I love working till late and during the weekends. My family and friends are the only one complaining.
Only 3.5 months after our conversation, it looks like someone hired a bulldozer. My whole life collapsed. My dad is diagnosed with cancer (he died), I lose my job, a friend has cancer (he died), my dog dies, my dear family member is diagnosed with cancer (spoiler: she kicked cancer’s ass yeah!), a lot more drama and I get a serious and mysterious lung disease twice.
My life became a rollercoaster and before you think that this is going to be sad with tears all over the place, think again. It’s me Jehan, I don’t roll over and surrender. Yes life can throw things at you, but it is up to you what you are going to do with it. And I choose Survivor from Destiny’s Child.

Those years were about surviving and rebuilding. Now we are trying a different and happier song.

2017 – …
Follow me on my journey: (re-)discovering the great/funny/recognizable things in life (like my passion for writing for example), getting back into beast mode, and dealing with the less great stuff. But with some self-deprecating and sarcasm, because I simple can’t live without them. 😉

  1. It’s wonderful to meet you Jehan! What a great attitude you have, despite having gone through such a difficult time you are still able to keep your head held high and look to the wonderful things that are going to happen in the future!!

With an attitude such as yours you will over come much and thrive 🙂

You write in english extremely well BTW 🙂

Look forward to reading more of your life journey through the words you share on this blog 🙂

    • Hi Miss Lou,

Thanks for the beautiful compliment and for stopping by. 😀 Did I tell you that your name is my middle name? So funny. The only time I hear that name is when Im spelling mine and now another one who loves to write as well. Keep on writing as frequently as you are doing now, like it.

  2. Thanks for visiting my blog and the comment on “Heating Up The Kitchen…”

I’m happy to see when people, especially, women, pick themselves up when life gets them down. We all go through trials & tribulations. It’s how we come out of them that really makes us who we are. God is with us, whether we feel him or not, otherwise we wouldn’t be able to get through obstacles that life puts us through. It makes one stronger, wiser and more determined…

    Best wishes with your journey.

    • Hi Bobbi,

Thanks for stopping by and for your kind comment!
Even though struggles are no fun, they are certainly huge lessons that we need to learn.

Last year changed me and my view on life. Trying to do things different now. Life is too short to be a workaholic.

Must say, your blog is a great inspiration. I think it will take a while, but I let you know when I surprise someone with your special recipe. Looking forward to it.

      • Thank you so much for the sweet compliment.

To be an “inspiration” is one of the goals that I have for my blog.

Do let me know how it turns out when you have the time to make my “special” recipe.

        Have a Beautiful week.

  3. Hi Jehan,

Nice to get reacquainted. Reacquainted with who you are thinking. We have a former employeer in common. A.k.a. Mister mad. (You know who) Sad to read about the things you gone through, but happy to see you decided that to take the positive from it and applying it to life. Keep up the good work, enjoy reading your blog.

    Best regards

    • Hi Martijn,

Great to hear from you. Talked about you a couple of days before you left me this comment. (Only positive things of course 😉 )How funny is that?! Anyway, I already emailed you. Planning on writing a lot of positive posts in 2016!

  4. I was a work-a-holic myself! A crazy Creative Director who wanted to know everything and be everywhere and… puff, puff, I’m getting tired just thinking about it!! Then I got married and sadly it was downhill from there. It’s OK, I have two wonderful kids and I have learned so much through all the ups and downs. It’s a new stage, a new life. I see your spirit and sense of humor will pull you through! You go girl!! As Joan Baez and Bob Dylan and oh so many other sang… ‘be courageous and be strong, and may you stay forever young’.

    • Hello Thewriterison!

Welcome to my blog and thank you very much for your message. We have to wait to find out where I will be in my 40’s. 😀

Things were crazy lately. Try to be back with new content soon. 😉
